Methodology
How we research and compare educational tools.
Rankings and comparisons on this site are not guaranteed to be objective for every learner. Individual needs differ, and prices or features can change after publication. Always verify current details with the provider.
What we evaluate
- Functionality: what the tool actually does, based on the provider's own documentation and product pages.
- Educational usefulness: the kinds of learning tasks the tool is designed to support.
- Ease of use: how the interface is described and whether onboarding information is publicly available.
- Supported platforms: web, iOS, Android, Windows, macOS, or browser extension availability.
- Accessibility: publicly stated accessibility features such as text-to-speech, captioning, or screen-reader support.
- Pricing transparency: whether pricing is published clearly, and what free versus paid tiers include.
- Privacy information: whether the provider publishes a privacy policy and what it discloses about data collection.
- Canadian availability: whether the tool is confirmed to operate in Canada and, where relevant, whether availability differs by province or territory.
- Limitations: known restrictions, such as feature caps on free tiers or platform gaps.
What we do not do
- We do not accept payment in exchange for a positive review or higher placement.
- We do not fabricate ratings, review counts, awards, or certifications.
- We do not claim government or institutional endorsement for any tool.
- We do not guarantee that a tool will produce a specific academic outcome.
Updates and corrections
Educational software changes frequently — features are added or removed, pricing changes, and Canadian availability can shift. If you notice outdated or inaccurate information, please use the contact page to let us know. See our editorial policy for how corrections are handled.
